Bombshell is the Marilyn M onroe musical being staged in the cult NBC series Smash, which ran from 2012–2013. The concert, which featured the original cast from the show, was produced as a special event in 2015 as a fundraiser for The Actors Fund.

On Wednesday, the stars of the NBC musical drama series will reunite virtually for a special one-night-only Bombshell in Concert streaming event. The event,

announced by The Actors Fund in association with PEOPLE, will feature the never-seen show at the Minskoff Theater in New York City in 2015, as well as a

massive cast reunion at intermission.

In a sneak peek at the footage, Megan Hilty and Katharine McPhee take the stage to sing “Let Me Be Your Star,” the original song that debuted during the

series premiere of Smash in 2012. In the pilot episode, the song was performed by Karen Cartwright (McPhee) and Ivy Lynn (Hilty) as they each prepared to

audition for the role of Marilyn Monroe.

The cast of NBC’s “Smash” is back for a one-night-only virtual performance of “Bombshell In Concert” on May 20 to raise money for The Actors Fund.

Five years ago, the cast performed “Bombshell in Concert” – based on the life of Marilyn Monroe – for a similar one night run in support of The Actors Fund

that sold out on Broadway at the Minskoff Theater. Now, “Smash” celebrities will reunite and discuss the making of the television show which ended in 2013.
The special screening of “Bombshell In Concert” will be introduced by Renee Zellweger and during intermission Julie Klausner of “Difficult People” will host

a live, virtual cast reunion. Actors Christian Borle, Jaime Cepero, Will Chase, Brian d’Arcy James, Jack Davenport, Ann Harada, Megan Hilty, Jeremy Jordan,

Katharine McPhee, Andy Mientus, Debra Messing, Leslie Odom Jr., Krysta Rodriguez, and Wesley Taylor are scheduled to participate. Bob Greenblatt and Neil

Meron will produce the event, which serves as a fundraiser for The Actors Fund.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Bob Greenblatt and Neil Meron and to everyone in this generous cast and creative team,” said Tony Award winner and Actors Fund

Chairman Brian Stokes Mitchell in a statement. “’Bombshell in Concert’ will be a wonderful evening to share this benefit night with fans far and wide, and

will raise much-needed funds to help The Actors Fund continue to help everyone in need in our entertainment community across the country.”

“Bombshell” features a score from Tony and Grammy-award winning songwriters Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, who also served as executive producers on

“Smash.” The event will stream on People’s website, PeopleTV, and the news source’s social media outlets at 8pm eastern time.

“Bombshell,” the sold-out, one-night only June 2015 concert event in which stars of NBC’s Smash crooned tunes form the Marilyn Monroe musical-within-the

musical drama, will at long last be streamed online, it was announced on Tuesday.

The reunion will feature Debra Messing, Katharine McPhee, Megan Hilty, Leslie Odom Jr. and more stars Smash fans are in for a treat.

The concert and reunion will stream Wednesday, May 20, beginning at 8 p.m. ET, exclusively on PEOPLE.com, PeopleTV and PEOPLE social platforms (Facebook and

Twitter) and benefit The Actors Fund, which has been helping artists in need amid the coronavirus crisis.

The Bombshell in Concert livestream, produced by Neil Meron and Bob Greenblatt, continues the musical’s association with The Actors Fund, which provides a

safety net for performing arts and entertainment professionals. In the past seven weeks, the organization has distributed $10.1 million in emergency

financial assistance to over 8,500 people in need due to the coronavirus pandemic, more than five times the funds normally provided in a year. To donate,

It has been seven years since NBC’s Broadway-centered series Smash took its final bow. But now, fans will get to hear some of the show’s stunning soundtrack

once again courtesy of a reunited cast.

On Tuesday (May 12), it was announced that a special livestream of the 2015 live concert of Bombshell (the musical at the show’s center) will air on May 20

at People.com and the magazine’s social platforms. Along with airing the 2015 performance, the stream will feature an introduction from Renee Zellweger, and

an intermission hosted by Julie Klausner where the cast of the show will reunite and discuss the show’s legacy.

Update, May 14 Cast and creatives of Smash and Bombshell In Concert will visit Stars In The House on Sunday, May 17, to discuss the upcoming May 20 stream

of Bombshell in Concert. Joining Stars hosts Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley will be cast members Katharine McPhee and Megan Hilty, composers Marc Shaiman &

Scott Wittman, and producers Neil Meron and Robert Greenblatt. The Stars in the House episode will livestream Sunday, May 17, 8 p.m. ET on the Stars In The

House YouTube channel and on starsinthehouse.com.

I am watching the event for almost 2 years and I really enjoy watching it with my family. For us, it’s a holiday because we get all together. This year I organized a local similar event. This was very great for our small town. All people enjoyed the songs. I searched for a stage hire in England. And I found the best providers on market. They installed all in 1 day, very fast and hard-working guys. I am pleased with their work. They brought a lot of lights that were great in the evening. It was like a light show. The sound was very great.
