The film was co-produced by Bona Film Group, August First Film Studio and directed by Chen Kaige, Tsui Hark, and Lin Chaoxian.

The work that the Chinese people have been waiting for stars Wu Jing, Jackson Yee, Duan Yihong, Zhu Yawen, Li Chen, Hu Jun, and Han Dongjun.

The main story of this film is taken from the history of the Korean War to resist US aggression and help North Korea.
