The Rams were able to win its second Super Bowl title in franchise history, and the first since their move back towards Los Angeles in rather dominating fashion, taking down the Bengals, 38-20. This score does not compare to the first half shellacking L.A. handed down en-route to winning the title.

After a fairly quiet matches to start the game by both teams, Rams scored in a rather controversial manner. When they faced a third-and-12 at the Cincinnati 34-yard line Matthew Stafford uncorked a deep ball to Van Jefferson on the left side of the end zone. Originally, the officials ruled that he was out of boundaries, but a fight of Sean McVay led to a reversal and the Rams ascending, 7-0. In full-discretion it wasn’t clear Jefferson received two feet within bounds, but the virtual officials believed otherwise upon an examination (Maybe the video games are more real! ).

The Bengals have responded to that scoring drive by the Rams by scoring their own as Joe Burrow completed a pass to Tee Higgins to knot the game at seven, but L.A. quickly matched that score with a drive through the field and Odell Beckham Jr. scoring a seven-yard touchdown passing for a 14-7 score.

It was at this point in the game that the Bengals began to be left by the wind.

The Cincinnati offense took to the field following the Beckham touchdown, and was at a third and 9 from their 24-yard line. After running out to his right, Burrow was sacked in the back by Leonard Floyd and the football came loose. Aaron Donald scooped it up and was able to slam it in for the touchdown to bring the Rams up 21-7. Later in the second half, the running back Cam Akers would cap off another scoring drive to L.A. that would extend their lead by three scores.

The Bengals were able to show some determination during the first half in the midst of the scoring blitz by the Rams. They found the end zone with only 50 seconds remaining before halftime, bringing the deficit to 14 after Burrow made contact with Tyler Boyd.

However, in the same vein as the Chiefs having to go into overtime against Buffalo with 13 seconds left in the regulation portion in the Divisional Round, the Rams were on the cusp of a similar gut-punch. The first play after the Bengals score and 46 seconds to go, Stafford completed a 73-yard touchdown to Jefferson to make L.A. what proved to be an insurmountable advantage.
