CALLING OUT. This is the call out section. Do NOT post your battles here.

POSTING. The battle post can be started and posted by either the challenger or by the person who accepted the challenge (but the challenger always battles first). However, the post subject line should be named in this fashion: ‘abc vs. xyz’, abc being the challenger and xyz being the person accepting the challenge. The challenger should always be first in the subject line (’abc’ in this example).

Rule Effective as of Sep 23, 2007 9:00 PM EST: You may only participate in one open battle at a time. Initiating or participating in multiple battles will cause you to be disqualified in all of them.

BATTLE ORDER. Order is A,B,B,A. The challenger will always go first with one verse. The opponent will then have 48 hours to respond with two verses. The challenger will then have 48 hours to respond again with one verse. Failure to respond within 48 hours for either side results in a victory for the active battler.

BATTLE VERSES. The maximum limit for a verse is 16 bars (thus two verses is 32 bars). You could attempt to fit alot of words in one bar, but this may eventually cause penalization in the Structure factor (see below).

VOTING. When the battle is complete, the audience judges the battle according to five parts:

1. Multis (rhyming multiple syllables, such as ‘pop that gat’ and ‘lock that strap’)
2. Punchlines (jokes and creative lines, wordplay)
3. Vocabulary (use of more advanced words and non-cliched phrases)
4. Personals (topics or phrases that personally attack the opponent)
5. Structure (a consistent style of writing or flow, so that the lyrics are not chaotic)

If you are voting, each of these five parts must be then rated on a scale from 1-5, 5 being the best. You must also post the name of the battler you are voting for to win. Although you may post during a battle, absolutely do not vote before the battle rounds are complete.

Rule Effective as of Aug 9, 2007 11:59 PM: Your user account must be at least 14 days old and have a minimum of 10 post count history before your vote qualifies.

WINNING. A battle is complete when five votes have been submitted, or when a battler first gets 3 winning votes.

Completed battles will be totaled by the battle moderator and added to the scoreboard.

Remember, only by voting on other people’s battles will other people vote for yours.
