Say for example, everytime you take out an animal, a wheel is spun. The wheel is made up of 80% of “common drops” and 15 percent of the “rarer” and 5 percent of “very rare”. If the wheel is stopped at “common”, the ring will not work. However, if the wheel stops at “rare”, or “very rare” the ring will be in effect.

The wheel that is stopped at “rare” will spin another one, which will contain all the rare items. The ring increases the chances of finding rare and valuable items.
