I think Catcher is a solid book. However, a lot of people miss out on the fact that Holden is actually a hypocrite. It's a well written portrait of a teenage boy's mindset and a great literary depiction of 1950's New York.
I think that David Copperfield is a much better book and character. I sincerely hope that you didn't think Dez was talking about the magician.

It's a dreadfully boring book with no proper sense of characterization, pacing, or realism. It's only famous because the guy who killed John Lennon told people to read the book if they wanted to figure out why he did it.

funny thing is, holden is a self loathing hypocrite. he hates everyone because even tho they embody what he hates about himself, they still somehow function socially and he feels he cant. so thats u?
to be honest, that's where I find the biggest connection lol.
In terms of literature, I bask in the interests of Mythology and Edgar Allan Poe.. haha

I remember in school having been assigned reading it,but never got into it.
'Rule of the bone' an 'Go ask alice' were much better assigned reads.

His rhythm was seriously uncanny. Way ahead of it's time. Do you actively read poetry?
