Romelu Lukaku appeared in full as Chelsea beat Tottenham Hotspur in the first leg of the English League Cup semi-final. Lukaku gets praise from Thomas Tuchel.
Lukaku has been in the spotlight in the past week because in an interview with Sky Sports he admitted that he did not feel at home at Chelsea. The former Inter Milan striker also questioned Tuchel’s game tactics.
As a result of the interview, Lukaku was parked by Chelsea for the match against Liverpool which ended 2-2. Lukaku later apologized and manager Thomas Tuchel accepted the apology.
The Belgian man then returned to play for Chelsea after being parked in the match against Liverpool. Lukaku played the full game against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League Cup, which took place at Stamford Bridge
Lukaku is quite troublesome for Tottenham. He recorded three shots with two on target and one key pass.
“I am happy with his performance, I like how he plays. He is strong and shows great commitment in our defensive work. He is always dangerous, always uses his body and is always involved in dangerous situations,” Tuchel was quoted as saying by Chelsea’s official website.
“Honestly I expected it because Romelu is able to handle pressure and can handle difficulties. He seemed relaxed after the decision was made and we finished the conversation and he knew what was going on, I felt he was relaxed enough to perform like this.”
