Mohamed Salah ‘has signed Saudi Pro League contract’, claims Premier League flop

Mohamed Salah’s future has already been confirmed, according to a former Premier League star, who sensationally claimed the Liverpool superstar will depart for Saudi Arabia this summer

Mohamed Salah has signed a contract with a team in the Saudi Pro League - according to his compatriot and Premier League flop Mido.

The Liverpool hero was subject to intense interest from the emerging league last summer with Al Ittihad reportedly bidding £150million for the Egyptian’s services, but was quickly rebuffed by the Premier League leaders.

Salah, 31, has established himself as one of the best players in the world since his arrival at Anfield in 2017, where he’s played a major part in Liverpool’s triumph of the Champions League and the Premier League in recent years.

He picked his seventh trophy with the club on Sunday (February 25) following the Reds’ extra-time victory against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final, which he missed out on due to injury.

Just days after the triumph, his future in Merseyside was called into question by Mido - who played for the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Middlesbrough, and West Ham - who took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to claim that Salah will leave Liverpool for Saudi Arabia this summer.

The 41-year-old wrote: “Mohamed Salah will be in the Saudi League next season. Contracts have been signed”, which gained much traction on the social media platform with one Liverpool fan writing: “Does Mido have something against Mo and/or LFC?”.

Another supporter wasn’t fazed by Mido’s claim as they commented: “Cap, he still got 2 more seasons in Liverpool”, however, a third suggested the Egyptian may be right by adding: “I don’t see a world where Salah stays after Klopp leaves, so yeah Mido might be right”.

Liverpool saw several players depart for Saudi Arabia last season with Roberto Firmino joining Al Ahli, Fabinho signing for Al Ittihad, while former captain Jordan Henderson called time on his 12-year association with the club to reunite with Steven Gerrard at Al Ettifaq.

The 33-year-old lasted just six months in the Middle East, citing an inability for his family to settle, as he secured a return to Europe with Dutch giants Ajax last month.
