truth is rappin for 4 or 5 years dont make ur quality good Pikk (LOL). u cud b rappin for 7 and still rip a 10 dollar mic and no mixin skills. de main is still on de mic and soundcard. CUZ u can get a decent quality wit just mic n soundcard, just look at me for instance. no popfilter, no mixer no nothin. ofcourse i wud love to hav em soon but at de moment, as i dont hav de neccessary investment money, just a decent mic and a good soundcard helps. dats my point, de soundcard helps ALOT

When I said 4 or 5 years, I meanth Ive been Mixin that long, not just rapping. Production can be mastered over time and practice…..

Damn germaniese muhfucka. LOL.

DONT YOU NEVER MIX UP ESTONIANS WITH GERMANS… just have look at this awkward estonian pk and afterwards compare it to my wonderful caucasian fro… thats the real german breed… may i quote killah priest: afros no wavy hair!!!! (in case u might have not seen my haircut yet just use ur imagination and ull be alright)

NOW LET ME HEAR AN AMEN…

…ok

anyways, you can get a beast setup (mic, mixer, stand, ect) for around $250. i hear some good mics are

-Mxl 900 (around $50)
-AKG Perception 200 (about $120)
-behringer b1 (around $100)
-MXL 4000 (good, but sadly around $200)

those are just some, all above are condensor mics. you can find on either zzsounds.com or musiciansfriend.com

also to record on, cep is pretty nice, i personally like it more than audition, but thats cause i know the program better…reason i don’t have one of these beast setups is because i am broke and finding a job is hard as hell. welp, needs to go, pizza in the oven O.O

Lol tell me about it. Parents got cheap all of a sudden cause I’m turning 18. They did say they’d get me my glasses if I get a job (thats my motivation lol!) (oh and the glasses are cause of my shitty eye sight and I don’t want no cheap shit.. I want some Fendi ones for $400 lol) (lol three parenthesis?)

i wanna get a good mic but can't decide which to buy… i've been browsing eBay recently, and found two candidates, they're both USB mics because i don't want to mess with phantom power (i'm a newb), pre-amps and such… so i'm deciding between the Samson CO3U package (stand, shock mount, and Pop-Filter- priced at $149.95+shipping), and the Marshall MXL USB .007 Stereo Condenser (comes with a desktop stand and a Pop-Filter- priced at $189.95+shipping). I've done a little research and found out that the CO3U might only record in MONO (unless you enable the Omni-settings) but that will greatly increase the background noise in my room (loud computer), so my question is, “Is recording in MONO, and not STEREO, make a difference in your work?” and can i get someone who knows mics to help me out in deciding… being they're from eBay, if i make the wrong choice i have to pay shipping costs to return the equipment, and lose out on Quality recording time. I want a condenser mic so i can re-do my songs so will sound a little more professional, i've pimped out my Radio Shack mic with a home set-up, but i can still recognise the quality difference from other artists in my area.

i agree with PK it doesnt matter how long you've been rapping….even though he was talking about how long hes been mastering the mixing, but alll it really is, is if your at home you need to have a good SOUNDCARD to support w.e the hell your gona plug into it, if you want studio-hi quality, practically any mic with phantom power will give you that but in order to use these mics you need the proper sound card…most of the time your soundcards you buy dont have this phantom power compatibility, youd need a professional audio card which is expensive so you could settle for a PRE-AMP which is marvalous…stuff which zinn mentioned is good to have

but im not to familiar with how these mixers work so thats why im not telling you to get them lol…i just know mics and soundcards and well computers lol.

so yea: 1 - Phantom Powered Microphone, cheapest one i found was for 50bucks on sale, i got mine for 60 (org. price is 120 +tax) or if you got money to blow buy the $1000 mic

2 - Get a Pre-Amp generally better than a soundcard to a certain point (but i havent even used mine yet)

3 - Great Recording Programs to use: Cubase, Adobe Audition ( i dont like that one but others do its a cool edit pro program),  Sonar (i think), and Mixcraft 2.1 (the best one of the series, its what i use)

so yea, you have great options, the programs you wish to use, make sure their smooth with your computer specs.
