Hip Hop is not just music, its a brand. You need to have an “image” that coincides with the concepts that you rap about. My main point is, you cant not have one and I dont think you have an image.
The reason(and I may be misinterpreted), I say you should conform, is because your songs sound like hip hop, so the image you should have should also be hip hop. If not, then you appear fake. If your going to revolt, then dress like you revolt. Conform to the identity of your songs but dont knock a culture which you are part of and act like you have the authority to judge it.
And about tech n9ne. He is an extremist, look at his style in clothes, the abstract colors, the piercings, he is a rebel, he is all “image” and he embodies revolt. He is an example of someone who used his “image” to his style. If you mention tech n9ne, the first thing your going to think of is blood red and spikey hair. You need an image and it has to be extreme and flashy and synchronized with your music.

Rappers not following the HipHop “Image” are just f**king doper… I'm getting tired of all those “New Era cap-baggy pants-huge shirt-sneakers-earring-platinum chain-doorag-bandana dudes” who ALL think that their style's unique and that people are trying to copy it… So big up to all those kanYe West, Lupe Fiasco, Timbaland, Dr. Dre-ish types… Ain't nothing wrong with a cap or a chain or something, but people are just all exactly the same nowadays… Be original!

I don't agree with this, but he's correct.
For example, Diogenes presents himself as an eccentric man, and that's exactly what you see when you look at his picture, and it's presented in his music.
This is why I'm staying as a netcee and letting my music speak for itself.
I consider myself a Nerd and rap about things that can be considered “nerdy” and I even categorize it in a genre called “Nerdcore” but I'm not about to dress like the stereotypical Nerd, i.e. glasses + generic clothing just to give my music that much more “validity.” I don't like “image” therefore I'm not going to give myself one…I dress the way I want to, which, if you're wondering, is like a skater
PS: Sti-G, where have you been, big chains and baggy clothes are soooooo yester-year, tight pants/jeans, weird haircuts, and huge glasses are the norm for Hip-Hop!

Okay I admit, I'm not really following what retarded trends are in fashion and all… But I still see Soulja Boy, J-Kwon, Juelz Santana-types all over the globe… On top of that, I'm from Belgium… And over here ALL rapper are giga-wangsters with the baggy s**t… So yeah I'm sorry I'm not up to date with America lol
