Yes. Like I said. Im no rookie at it, but even good producers could use some pointers every now n then.
My vocals arent openly clear. I mean I use double or triple voice over recordings of the verses. Could just be that Im lazy and rushing myself to finish it, or it could be just that Im not using a high quality program or a great compressor VST. I use Cubase SE, n my mic is a sterling audio voice sustainer, but I was just wondering if there are any voice compressor vst’s out there that I should know about, that some of you producers have that I just havent heard of. Because I use the factory made cubase compressors, n to be honest…shit isnt that great. Lol.
Also, i think cubase is pretty 3rd grade when it comes to producing, but its what I’ve taught myself to use and I like it. So im not openly concerned about programs, but if adobe is better, n which I’ve heard it is, please give me some feedback on it, so I dont switch to the same ass shit.
But would love to start a chat with fellow producers about this.

I’ve used cubase before… I’d move on from that. I also have heard high remarks about Adobe. It might be your best bet man. People also like to use Cool Edit Pro, Nuendo, Pro Tools, etc..

I use cool edit but just started using it about a month ago.. its fairly easy to learn but i also had some guidance from pk. God knows i dont know much about producing but its been a big step up from my previous recording software. Ive never used Cubase before but Cool Edit Pro is really user friendly and a lot of guys who use it have figured out how to make their shit sound really good, i just havent gotten there yet. I also used Cakewalk Sonar 7 which is what Pyro uses but i never had any guidance on it so i switched to cool edit. Its a really complicated program from what i could tell but if you can get Py to help you out its the best from what ive heard.

yea i’ve just about mastered cep. all i need now is a hot mic. it comes with some nice default effects too, i don’t even have any plugins, it has a vocoder on it already (takes a while to learn how to use).
The only thing i like about audition is that it has this setting where you can get this lo fidelity type rock sound on your voice, like pharrell tends to use on some tracks (most recently “Spazz”)
don’t know much about pro tools though

I’ve heard about pro tools, usually used for making beats. Havent played with it before, but I’ll give it a look. Yea Zinn, thats what I’ve heard from Audition, juss wanted some feedback on that. Ionno bout cool edit pro. To be honest, if i wanted to stick with a user friendly program, cubase would be a meal ticket. Ionno just tryna challenge myself to learn more shit I guess. Just incase rap dont work out, I can get something with sound engineering, n produce.
But thanks to all feed. Anymore would be appreciated.
Oh yea, like the above says, does anyone know any good vocal compression VST plug ins, or like zinn said sum Vocoders.
