BEIJING， Nov. 30 (Xinhua) — China will continue to improve policies on the value-added tax to further relieve tax burdens on companies， according to an executive meeting of the State Council.

The government started to promote the VAT nationwide in May to replace old business tax， and 96.5 billion yuan (about 14 billion U.S. dollars) had been saved for companies by the end of October， said a statement released after the meeting chaired by Premier Li Keqiang on Wednesday.

In the next step， the government will closely track the progress， assess the effects， and address problems in pilot industries including finance and construction promptly.

Noting that Chinese President Xi Jinping announced in May the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, Li said he is full of confidence about China-Hungary relations and the prospect of China-CEEC cooperation.

The premier recalled that the first China-CEEC economic and trade forum was held in Budapest in 2011 and, a year later, the 17 countries established a new trans-regional cooperation platform, called the 16+1 cooperation.

TOKYO, June 21 (Xinhua) — Toshiba Corp. said Wednesday it will conduct negotiations solely with a government-led consortium over the sale of its prized memory-chip unit as the cash-strapped conglomerate tries desperately to bolster its financial position.
