I must say, that Todd isn't exactly in the wrong with his post, it's not worded very well but he's making sense. I mean This site is to sell beats, good beats. And the problem is people are trying to define good beats. That is as silly and childish as people telling one another who is a better artist. This is a world of opinion. And I hold nothing against Todd for questioning the validity of why they would make beats exclusively for mixtapes. That's like people asking a musician if they make their music on the pretense of it being sold on a disc or just given away on a blank cd with sharpie on it.

Fair enough points Slant. I get the gist of staying relevant and I support it. I love pop beats..good pop beats. The beats I've been listening to lately aren't good, and I know it's only my opinion and it's not the end all be all, but lately they've been feeling very basic and manufactured. In particular I'd have to single out Tristan, Nine Diamond, the recent Sinima, and I think a couple others who come and go (Atomic is a breath of fresh air though). I'm not too worried about Sinima because he puts out a high volume of beats so it's probably just a rough patch, the others thooough I think will take a while to fully get there. Smoke had a lot of potential for an epic beat, I loved his full sounds and technical ability but his melodies (I don't know if that's the right beat terminology ...

i feel like a lot of beats i was hearing before were trying too hard to be instrumental hip hop and not be a beat for someone to use. when you get too powerful with a beat, it's going to outshine the artist on it. it shouldn't be a song, just the backbone to a songwriters ability to make that song.

sv is probably one of the most marketable beat sites on the web and i love it. even the drama filled forums lolol
